When Codima Inc. rolled out its autoVoIP Blaster, which stress tests and maps network limits to ensure Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) readiness, in mid-2008 the folks at Microsoft couldn't believe it. They'd been trying for years to automate the process, and couldn't believe Codima got it done with only a team of three, using Microsoft's own Visio drawing platform.
Codima quickly became a Microsoft Certified Partner, which opened up a new world of opportunity for the company founded in 2003 and based in Denver in suburban Philadelphia. In late 2008 and early 2009, Codima opened nine offices abroad, including the U.K., Japan and Scandinavia. Now a global provider of best practice software tools for VoIP and IT asset management, Codima is poised to grow even more.
With Codima's offerings available for purchase on Microsoft's website, business has been brisk, and outside investors have taken notice. Codima has kept the momentum going with rapid-fire product launches, like its autoPinger--a tool designed to increase cost efficiency with minimal effort in network trouble notification by using innovative sound effects. Three more product launches are expected by the summer of 2009.
Codima's toolbox includes fully automated and integrated tools for network inventory, mapping, pinging and monitoring. The company serves financial institutions, governmental agencies, service providers and large organizations in addition to smaller companies. With offices in Johannesburg, Paris, and Sydney and its newest in Brussels, Codima is using a franchise-like model to develop retailers and customers all over the world. Its new stronghold in Europe figures to be profitable, as the Benelux region--Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg--has been an early adopter of IP telephony technology and has high broadband penetration.
