By definition, a boutique consulting firm is destined to stay small. That doesn't, however, mean it has small goals. Michael D. Becker had a big vision when he launched MD Becker Partners in November, 2008. His strategy and consulting firm, focused on both public and private companies in the life sciences industry, was born to provide strategic advice that is backed by real-world, in-house experience to help companies increase visibility, unlock stakeholder value and access resources for growth.
Becker and Janet Dally, the firm's other senior partner, have a combined 35 years of experience on both the scientific and financial side of biotechnology. Becker raised in excess of $130 million in new capital for several publicly-traded biotechs prior to launching MD Becker. The company's work is as varied as its clients' needs.
MD Becker has published more than 30 original articles released in its Life Science Digest online newsletter and co-hosted two successful events--the Stem Cell Investor and Executive Networking Conference and Cancer Immunotherapy: A Long-Awaited Reality Conference. The company has also published original industry research, like its 150-page report on the cancer immunotherapy market that profiled nearly 40 companies and the scientific, medical, clinical and financial aspects of the sector.
MD Becker also has developed and implemented regulatory strategies for its clients, which now number about a dozen, in two successful awards for Orphan Drug Designation by the FDA. Its objective, third-party perspective keeps MD Becker as a regular in trade magazines and industry articles in large mainstream publications, like Forbes and Reuters.
