If transparency and efficiency are among the pillars of healthcare reform, Viiad Systems is well-positioned for success.  Its health ticket, a product that's part ATM card and part airline E-ticket and was introduced in 2007, provides difficult-to-find answers to health insurance questions that are often misunderstood.

Viiad, which claims to reduce administrative costs by up to 25 percent, markets its product to insurers and third-party administrators and employers. Customers of those providers can print out their health ticket and gain access to information about copays, deductibles, pharmacy benefits and laboratory work. The health ticket  coordinates all this information from various sources and supplies it in a printable ticket that goes where the old health insurance ID card could never dream.

Since its launch, dental, pharmaceutical and workers compensation coverage have been added to the health ticket. Viiad has about 40 customers and nearly 1,000,000 users have access to the health ticket. The company has grown to about 30 employees with reported multi-million dollar revenue. It hopes to keep the momentum going and make the health ticket accessible to 10 million users by 2010.
