Bryan Silverman remembers getting a phone call several years ago regarding his cholesterol check-up, and the nurse on the other end told him his total number was fine. But Silverman pressed her for the HDL and LDL breakdown, and when she told him the individual figures, he didn’t seem to think he was fine. The nurse agreed.

KePRO Engage Health, a new subsidiary launched by Harrisburg-based
Keystone Peer Review Organization (KePRO) that will serve as a progressive wellness and lifestyle management company, all the more relevant in its effort to help members improve health, connect with care providers and manage their conditions.
“An individual that thoroughly understands their situation is better situated to take charge of their healthcare,” says Silverman, KePRO Engage Health’s COO. “They’ll ask better questions.”
KePRO, a national care management and quality improvement organization, brought on close to 50 new employees--mostly IT workers--for its new venture. KePRO Engage Health provides web-based and mobile, interactive programs and social networking solutions. The goal is to make its service as portable as possible, allowing, for example, a user to perform real-time monitoring of weight or blood pressure, and to be a comprehensive service. Members can share educational information within the company’s social networks or other established networks like Facebook. It’s intended to complement other existing wellness and health programs.
“Many things we’ve tried are proprietary, like our learning modules. There are over 80 covering behavior, exercise and lifestyle needs,” says Silverman, who has worked in this space for more than 25 years, getting his start by doing brick-and-mortar wellness programs for Fortune 500 companies. “Our content actually responds to you. It’s not flat or static.”
Among the benefits Silverman touted are a health risk assessment coupled with biometric worksite screenings; flexible fee structures; free customization and ability to private label products; integration with current online programs and call centers; and accessibility and use through DVD, company Intranet, text messaging, email, IVR, internet protocol television and cell phones. KePRO Engage Health will market itself to employers and insurer groups of all sizes
