Betty Bonecrusher, Elsie Thudd, Barf and friends are among Pennsylvania's robust roller derby scene, which is quite different from the largely staged matches of the 1970s. Pittsburgh's Derby Demons are a skater-run and operated group that, like most squads, raise their own funds so jammers, blockers and pivots can do their thing. Pittsburgh is among several teams in PA, including ones in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Allentown, Lancaster, Stroudsburg and Matamoras.
