If the G-20 Summit provided the impetus for Pittsburgh to think about its image, local artist Bob Ziller is expanding its consciousness of the city's aesthetic surroundings. He spearheaded a beautification project leading up to the summit using Andy Warhol's flowers as the theme.
Ziller incorporated artists of varying age, background and ability to paint on chipboard that was installed on abandoned buildings throughout the city. With donated materials and space from Pittsburgh non-profit The Sprout Fund, Ziller held a painting party during the First Friday Gallery Walk on Penn Avenue earlier this month, and the results were captivating.
