With more than 300 artists at more than 80 venues throughout Philadelphia,
Philagrafika 2010 is one of the largest art events in the country and among the world's most important print-related expositions.
Philagrafika is the first of what organizers hope to become a recurring international event in the city that celebrates the role of print in contemporary artistic practice. It began on Jan. 29 and runs through April 11.
The festival is divided into three components--The
Graphic Unconscious is the core exhibition organized by the artistic director and curatorial team;
Out of Print, which pairs five artists with five historic institutions in Philadelphia to create new work inspired by the collection with which they were matched; and
Independent Projects, organized by 75 additional cultural institutions throughout the city.
