Hobbs & Towne Inc, a Valley Forge-based executive search firm that specializes in alternative energy and cleantech, is opening an office on Wall Street to service the emerging carbon cap and trade market, the firm announced Wednesday.

“With the changing political and economic landscape, the carbon market offers a huge growth opportunity to fuel the U.S. economy and strengthen the commitment to reduce emissions domestically,” says Co-Founder and CEO Andy Towne. “We will continue to strengthen our resources in New York to support technology, investors and traders in attracting difference-making talent.”

HTI, which has seven partners and more than 30 employees in offices in Philadelphia, San Francisco, Palo Alto and New York, also announced it is currently conducting two CEO searches in the carbon cap and trade market, along with searches in the environmental capital markets.

“We are actively recruiting and networking in the space to identify the best potential CEO candidates for now and in the future,” says Co-Founder and COO Bob Hobbs. “There is tremendous interest in the market and opportunity to have a significant impact on the future.”

Founded in 1997, HTI helped pioneer cleantech executive recruiting and has worked with companies in smart grid technologies, demand response, wind and solar, alternative fuels and biofuels, and clean technologies such as water and lighting. The firm plans to open an office in Dubai later this year.
