KE-TV: Dumpster Diving with Zero Waste Pittsburgh

on

It's not uncommon March to see brave or crazy souls lineup to dive into ice-cold water, taking a Polar Bear Plunge.

We all know winter hasn't exactly provided the typical plunge-worthy weather for such revelry. But another kind of dive took place earlier this month, as the folks at Zero Waste Pittsburgh made their first Dumpster Dive of the season.

Dumpster diving, for the uninitiated, is merely the act of digging into a trash heap and picking out items that may be useful to others or can be diverted to a recycling center. Zero Waste Pittsburgh, a project of the Pennsylvania Resources Council, provides waste reduction resources to both residential and commercial trash-makers.I

In the video below, Kyle Winkler makes a recent dive in Southside Pittsburgh.
