Pennsylvanians shine in Sochi

on

If, like me, you've been glued to the 2014 Winter Olympics, you might find yourself wondering about the Keystone State residents and natives competing in Russia. Fortunately, NBC put together this helpful guide.

It is no big surprise that hocky dominates this list. Seven (seven!) Pittsburgh Penguins — including superstar and Olympic hero Sidney Crosby — will skate in Sochi for countries as diverse as Canada, the United States, Finland and Russia. Four Philadelphia Flyers will also take the ice.

PA has also produced some luge talent, including doubles luger Jayson Terdiman; he was born and raised in East Stroudsburg and now lives in Berwick. Nineteen-year-old ice queen Summer Britcher has lived in Glen Rock her whole life.

Sprinter Lauryn Williams, who has won two medals in the Summer Olympics, joins fellow track star Lolo Jones on the United States bobsled team.

Kintersville's Chris Creveling and Shellington native Kyle Carr will both make their Olympic debuts on the short track speed skating oval, and two athletes with Newtown connections will also take to the ice: Nathan Bartholomay will compete in pairs figure skating and Jamie Greubel will take to the bobsled track.

Check out the complete list here.
