The 30 employees at WebpageFX in Carlisle relish the challenge of landing clients on the top of Internet search results. The science of search engine optimization is a moving target, but all signs say WebpageFX is pretty good at it, especially considering that it’s averaging one new client every week.
“We’re in south-central Pennsylvania, but a lot of our customers are all over the country,” company president Bill Craig says, adding that about three-quarters of WebpageFX customers are based outside of the Keystone State. Its 200 clients include household names like Comcast and Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Unlike many in the industry, WebpageFX only charges clients if they land the search-engine rankings they want, and they pay more if they land the top spot.
While WebpageFX also designs websites and smartphone applications, among other things, Craig says SEO is where most of his company’s growth is coming from. This success helped WebpageFX land the 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC.
This year, the company plans to grow its annual revenue of $1 million by 35 percent, bringing on the same percentage of new employees and clients. Craig is optimistic about that goal, and it helps that many of Webpage FX’s existing customers plan to spend more on Internet marketing.
