SLIDESHOW: Two PA Teams Advance to Nationals at State Robotics Championship

Two teams from Chester County were among the top performers at the FIRST Tech Challenge Pennsylvania State Championship on Feb. 25 at Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport.

Silver Soldiers of North Conventry and Minnie MASH of West Vincent Township joined Edison, NJ's Watts Up? team at the FIRST Tech Challenge World Championship Event in St. Louis, MO on April 26-28.

Nearly two-thirds of the participating high school-age teams last month were from Pennsylvania.

Minnie MASH won the Motivate Award and was second place overall. Silver Soldiers won the Rockwell Collins Innovate Award for its “outside-the-box thinking” en route to its third-place finish.

Minds in Gear Robotics team from Coatesville earned the Think Award for its attention to detail on an ancient design. Edison High School's Gear Up team from Philadelphia, largely made up of rookie performers, earned the Success Under Adversity Award.

Other participating teams from PA include: Ozone (Oxford), RoboWorks (Phoenixville), Terabytes (Murrysville), Blitzerbots (Elizabethtown), Smokin' Motors (Robesonia), Robo Warriors (Lewistown), Lan Lords (Millersville), Imagine It (Palmyra), SDP (Philadelphia), Tech Heroes (Philadelphia) and Robineers (Philadelphia).
